Bihu festival celebrates, it is coming from in ancient times by traditional. Bihu festival is a mainly agricultural-related festival. Assamese people celebrate three Bihu in a year like The Bohag Bihu, The Kati Bihu, and The Magh Bihu.

The Bohag Bihu.
The Bohag Bihu begins on the last day of the month of the Assamese calendar of Chaitra and middle of the April month of English calendar, it is celebrated continues the seven days. And the Assamese new year begins during that time. During this period, nature is changed, the spring season appears and trees wear a lovely dress of green leaves and flowers of various colors.The first day of the Bohag Bihu is known as a cow Bihu. On this day, in the morning, the Assamese villager people are taking their cows to bathe in the river or pond, with raw turmeric, digloti tree branches, brinjal, etc. In the evening, cows are presented with new rope for Bihu and put the fire nearest the cattle house with various types of homemade remedies to kill the mosquito-flies and other diseases.
The next day is the Bihu for man on which Gamochas are presented for elders and other related. On this day everyone bathing and wear new clothes. At this time, the foodstuff in houses does not run short, so everybody enjoys this period of the Bihu.
And from this time, the Assamese new year begins. During this Bihu, the young boys and girls use to sing Bihu songs to express cheerfulness with Dhol, Pepa, Gagana, Taal, Flute, and many instruments.
The woman and girls offer 'Gamochas' to the elders as well as to the youngers to show their respect and love. At this time, the Assamese people celebrate Bihu cultural program and various traditions and different types of sports
A main important part of this Bihu, nature wears a new dress, and animals and birds are starting a new life because at that time the first drops of rainfall on the earth. After the Bihu, the cultivator will soon start preparing all their new crops.
The Magh Bihu celebrated on the last day of the month of Puha and the middle of the month of January of English month. Everywhere in Assam, the young boys build Mezi Gharas before the Bihu.

The Kati Bihu.
The Kati Bihu observed on the last day of the month of Ahina at Sankranti. In the paddy field, earthen open lamps are lights so as to welcome the goddess Lakshmi. Because paddy is the main crop of the Assamese farmer. At this time, the Assamese farmer faces a lot of troubles, so there is no cheerfulness during this Bihu. And so, this Bihu is called another name of the Kangali Bihu. At this Bihu, black basil plants are planted on the day.The Magh Bihu.

The previous day of the Magh Bihu is called Uruka. The young boys arrange food in the Mezi Gharas at night and spent the night there. Next, in the morning they together take a bath and put fire to the Mezi Gharas. At that time, the villager's people join in the lighting Mezi Gharas and worshipping the fire.
In every house, rich and poor, they all arrange various food including, milk, curd, rice, meat, petha, sweet, and different types of food according to their choice. Because at that time, the Assamese farmer's crops are available, like sesame, coconut, sugarcane, and different kinds of paddy.
The Magh Bihu comes soon after the harvesting, so there is at least some amount of foodstuffs in every house. And so, this Bihu is called the Bhogali Bihu.
The Bihu festival is a culture of the Assamese people and always try to keep the culture alive.
